On May 23, Georgia Public Broadcasting will premiere John Portman: A Life of Building, an acclaimed documentary chronicling the career of one of Atlanta’s most famous architects. Portman is renowned worldwide, and is responsible for some of our city’s most famous designs, including the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.
The Atlanta Jazz Festival celebrates 35 years in 2012, and kicks off 31 Days of Jazz today!

Atlanta magazine teamed up with the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects to present a new perspective on buildings in the heart of our city. After all, who better than architects to appreciate the details of an urban landscape we often take for granted? Founded in 1906, AIA Atlanta includes more than 1,600 architects and design professionals, some of whom submitted photos capturing the rich cityscape. See how many of the buildings you can name!

This weekend the Rialto Center hosted “Off the EDGE” in Downtown Atlanta. Here are some shots of “EDGE/public,” a free performance of site works curated by Paul Boshears. “EDGE/public” featured performances from Casey Lynch of SCAD, Full Radius Dance, Haverty Object Group, Judy Gordon from Georgia Tech School of Architecture, Out of Hand Theatre, Staibdance, John Welker of Wabi Sabi, LIFT, and Bernard Jackson.
